Emily Netzel, pictured here with Safe Alliance’s Chief Advancement Officer Mike Blackwelder and Director of Donor and Corporate Relations Savannah Smith, served as Honorary Chair for the 16th annual Art with Heart. Art With Heart is a live and silent art auction held at Founder’s Hall every February, which benefits Safe Alliance and its domestic violence programs. Safe Alliance assists over 12,000 people annually throughout Mecklenburg County and Lake Norman by providing a continuum of critical crisis services to those victimized by domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse.

Carroll Financial hosted a two-day event for financial planning students to come into our office to learn about the financial planning industry, how an independent firm like ours operates, how to make the right connections after graduation, and hear real-world planning examples. The students came from Virginia Tech, NC State, Winthrop University and the University of South Carolina. We certainly admire their enthusiastic interest in attending our educational event over their Winter Break and wish them all the best of luck!

Kevin Bowyer participated in Charlotte’s Thunder Road Marathon. This was Kevin’s first marathon and he finished with a time of 4 hours and 2 minutes.

Steve Stewart, Brice Oldham, Mark Dillon, Rich Taylor, Braedon Long, Brett Boner and Marty Moore volunteered as some of the “Few Good Men” serving lunches at the annual InReach fundraising luncheon. InReach offers residential and community support for developmentally disabled adults in the Charlotte area.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and this past Saturday Denis, Michelle and Sophia Curcio ran in the Isabella Santos Foundation 5K to support children’s cancer research.

Taylor Norman participated in Rock Hill’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s in honor of her grandmother Mary Norman. Taylor’s team was the number one fundraising team and she was the number one participant. The Walk is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. She looks forward to continuing to raise awareness and funds for this important cause.

Peyton Manning was the featured speaker at the 2015 Boy Scouts Palmetto Council Distinguished Citizen Dinner in Rock Hill and Larry Carroll had the chance to meet him! The money raised from this annual event to assist in funding scouting operations for the council, which spans six counties, for the entire year.
