David joined Carroll Financial Associates in December 2015 bringing a wealth of experience in financial services.  Prior to joining our team, he was instrumental in establishing two start-up companies – Elephant Insurance Services, a four-state auto insurance carrier located in the Richmond, Virginia area, and Compare.com, a price comparison website for auto insurance rates.  He was the first-ever Head of Finance at Compare.com, a position he held for over three years.  David has over ten years of experience in tax preparation, finance, and insurance, and holds four graduate degrees, including an MBA in Investments from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Masters Degree in Taxation from the University of Illinois.  He is currently pursuing a PhD in Financial and Retirement Income Planning at The American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.

David believes in the importance of education in both the client and professional community.  He regularly teaches financial planning, insurance, and ethics courses, and has written for several professional journals.  He regularly volunteers for Junior Achievement, and speaks to university students about various financial topics.  He believes that being a financial advisor is a calling to improve all facets of the financial lives of others.

David is originally from Chicago, IL.  He has previously lived in Valparaiso, IN, Pittsburgh, PA, and Richmond, VA.  He currently lives in the South Park area of Charlotte.  He enjoys playing soccer and shooting pool.
